Sunol Wilderness is just off Fremont and about 30 min drive from sunnyvale, ca. Sunol wilderness offers something for everyone. Be it a good hiking trails for the young and energetic ,a nice creek side picnic spot for a family , navigation classes or horse back riding classes. This is one of the best time of the year to visit sunol. The climate is not too harsh and the place is green. There are numerous tails to pick from and depending on the length and steep. We choose to take the hike from the “flag hill” on the way up and “indian joe” on the way down.

Napa Valley
Napa valley is america’s wine and food destination. The climate being perfect , we decided to go to the valley for a long drive. This time of the year Napa is famous for its mustard fields. it is this time of the year when the fields look yellow and the sun is bright. We start at the visitor center in napa and headed toward the mustard fields and wineries through 29. the wine train runs parallel to the highway 29 and makes frequent stops. One place suggested for the mustard fields is Off 29 on Hoffman. Take this left and you will enter into the world full of colors.

This was somewhat similar to that. After searching for the perfect dinning table and not finding it for 3 months me and my brother decided to build. To make room for the bed in my room we moved the futon to the dining area and were about to sell the futon, then all of a sudden lohit got the idea of make a dinnig table instead of buying one.

Kirkwood
Kirkwood is a ski resort located south of lake tahoe. We decided to celebrate the new years at kirkwood . so for the long weekend we headed to kirkwood. Most of us were first time snow boarders.
17 Mile Drive
A lot has been written about this. and more over a lot has been discussed about this in the desi community. It is one of those trips you go to when someone is visiting you and want to go see the near by places.
Arun had come down during the Christmas break to the bay area. And the two of us decided to drive to the 17 mile drive. Driving a manual coupe on a long drive it self is a pleasure.
Bass Lake
It was those weekend where the weather was perfect and you had all the time in the world to do what ever you want to do. After the impulse decision of going somewhere, we decided to drive to bass lake. I had seen the rope swing of bass lake on youtube and wanted to try it out. Guru being extra cautious and very eager to do the rope swing, went and bought rope from walmart thinking that just in case we find the place and there is no rope, he will climb the tree and tie the rope himself.
Saddleback lake
Saddleback lake or the 20 lakes is one of the good spots know for camping. The camping grounds are available on a first come first serve basis. So if you dont get there in time for the camping ground then you can camp in the wilderness. . You need to get the wilderness permit if you plan to camp there. the permit itself is free but you need to rent the cans to store food as the bears may track you down because of the smell of the food.

Monolake is a lake famous for the rock formation . 
Half Moon Bay
Half moon bay is a beach which is about 45 min away from the place i live ( sunnyvale, ca) . Couple of us decided to go camping to Half moon bay for the weekend. Camping in half moon bay is more of a luxury than effort. everything is in place. You have your camping ground setup. you have your fire place set up. If you forgot to get your firewood, you can walk up to the security office and buy some. And you can even drive your car till the camping ground and park it just next to your camping area.

Yes, finally graduated and was ready for something other than the mundane life. Needed to travel very badly. Considering the fact that i had graduated recently and was now in the job hunt mode, A reallocation to the silicon valley seemed to be the logical choice. After lot of thinking, which lasted for one phone call, i decided to move to California. But reallocation to California is not what this post is about. This post is about the journey to California. Some of the perks of getting an internship in big companies is that they take care of your reallocation charges. A friend of mine had got into one such company and he wanted to drive to California. So things fell into place and there we were, on our way to California in a 2003 Toyota corolla.
Left Arlington, Texas on 05/21/2009 and headed to El paso, Texas. We decided to drive about 400 miles a day which makes each of us to drive about 200 miles and for 4 hrs.
